Climate Change Solutions Reimaged
With the threat of climate change growing each year, the focus on air pollution and reducing our carbon footprint is bigger than ever. With cars making up 75% of U.S carbon monoxide emissions, there is a big emphasis on finding alternative ways to getting around. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, users are less motivated than ever to leave the house, with 36% of U.S adults having reported that they do not engage in leisure physical activity. This, in combination with rising levels of air pollution, can have adverse effects on the health and safety of the general public.
Saving the Environment one SustainaBear at a time
EnviroBear encourages young adults to think sustainably and contribute to reducing air pollution and gases caused by vehicles every day. Users can set an essential amount of driving they do every day at the start of the app so that positive results and change remain attainable. The front end was built using Figma. All the characters, backgrounds, and props were all originally designed in the program. The back end was java, which was used to program the increase of points depending on the speed the user is going at.

EnviroBear is a fun, interactive game for all ages that enourages users to engage in a more active lifestyle
EnviroBear is a virtual wife/husband in the form of a polar bear. Every day, it heads to work for a set period of time (minimum of 8 hours), where it collects iceberg pieces to create a bigger iceberg. If the iceberg is big enough, it will be shipped off for a polar bear family to live on it temporarily. If the user continuously drives during the day, EnviroBear will not find any iceberg pieces. However, if the user walks continuously, the bear will find more pieces. If the user is not moving around, then the bear will find ice pieces once in a while. Sometimes, gifts will float to the bear to be collected by the bear to give to the user. Before and after work hours, the bear will interact with the user through text boxes. After work, the bear will present how many coins it collected, which can be used to buy clothing for the bear.
